The Hyundai Genesis

Hyundai Genesis

A car is more than numbers on a spec sheet; it’s a reflection of the engineers who built it. Hyundai engineers breathe safety, comfort and convenience. You can see their thinking not just in the pieces they choose, but also in how those pieces are put together. Not only in what they’ve put under the hood, but the material of the hood itself. Not just in the power they pull from the engine, but in how that power is deployed. Clever thinking, startling attention to detail, and a keen awareness that not every bolt is created equal. The Genesis: the perfect example of Hyundai engineers in action.

Professional drivers and you

It’s rare to find yourself facing a test-track obstacle course, but it’s all too common to find yourself facing a pothole, hubcap, branch, or any number of other random items in the middle of the road. The slalom test assesses how well a car can handle sharp back-and-forth movements in the most extreme cases. It’s the very same motion you would use to avoid road obstacles or dodge an oncoming collision. And while you may never find yourself in front of a row of bright orange cones, it’s certainly comforting to know that the Hyundai Genesis went through the slalom crisply, showing superb poise and balance even in exaggerated conditions. Watch it for yourself. And it should be equally comforting to know that World Hyundai Matteson, your Chicago Chicago Hyundai Dealership is here for you.

Many car makers talk about their zero to 60. Few, however, talk about their 70 to zero. In the end, the need to stop quickly is more critical than the need to start quickly. Hyundai engineers never sleep when it comes to your safety and that of your family.

With high carbon content brakes and myriad braking features, the Genesis 4.6 stops firmly and safely in a shorter distance than the 2008 BMW 550i. By a significant margin too. It can mean the difference between hitting something and staying safe. Staying safe is only dealing with World Hyundai for both your sales and service on the Genesis. How much more beautiful can a car look

A recent and unfortunate automotive trend has been the triumph of style over substance. Greek mythology gave warning in the tale of Narcissus who died at the river, unable to look away from his own reflection in the water. Sometimes beauty gets in the way performance-not with Hyundai. Fortunately, the good looks of the Genesis originate with its clever design. It’s beauty through functionality.

Take the true dual exhaust system on the Genesis. While some car makers split a single exhaust pipe into two, simply for aesthetic symmetry, the dual exhaust system on the Genesis is fully functioning and actually connected to, incredibly, the exhaust system.

Another point to consider is the profile of the Genesis. While many car makers have compressed their frames for an artificially sleek look, Hyundai chose to buck industry convention by incorporating expansive windows for better visibility. And, even with those big windows, Hyundai engineers managed to achieve a drag coefficient of a mere 0.27, one of the lowest of any sedan.

Even the available High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights are thoughtfully designed with added functionality. HID headlights cast a bright, high-contrast light that’s more like natural daylight for better visibility than halogen lamps. They also turn along with the steering wheel to illuminate a path in the direction you’re headed, ensuring there are no surprises around the corner.

The Genesis rides on large 17-inch or 18-inch wheels. Traditionally, that would mean compromised ride quality, but Sachs Amplitude Selective Dampers are designed to absorb quivers from the road within the suspension. Proving, once again, that form doesn’t come at the expense of function.

And to us, that’s a thing of beauty. If you need help with your Chicago Auto Loan visit us here. For more information on the Hyundai Genesis please call 866-574-6156 or email us at sales@worldhyundaimatteson.com. World Hyundai Matteson is here for you!

Honda Chief: “Hyundai is awesome.” by Alex Nunez

Japan’s automakers know a threat when they see one, and based on their words, it sure isn’t in Michigan. Motown is fleeting image in the Japanese car makers’ rearview mirrors, which they’re now nervously checking for a budding South Korean juggernaut. Honda CEO Takanobu Ito minced no words when he told the Associated Press, “Hyundai is awesome. They are undoubtedly a threat because their products are cheap, and the quality is improving.” The numbers seem to bear that out, as Hyundai and its corporate sibling, Kia, continue to show substantial sales chart improvements in key markets like the Europe and the US, where it continues to show strong growth while many other automakers look at double-digit shortfalls year-over-year. Nissan’s Shiro Nakamura echoes Honda’s Ito when it comes to identifying Japan’s new boogeyman, “Hyundai is the biggest threat for the Japanese automakers. They have the technology, but they seem to have cheaper labor.”

Hyundai, once basically a joke (we all remember such legendary products as the Excel, pictured above), is catching the Japanese by beating them at their own game — offering a mix of value and quality that’s hard for shoppers to ignore. Japan knows it needs to defend itself, too. After all, once upon a time, they were what Hyundai is now. In the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t too long ago that one could chuckle at Honda’s initial foray into the States. We know how that turned out. Now you have to wonder how long it’ll be until we see quotes from Hyundai’s leadership talking about the Chinese the way Nissan and Japan talk about Hyundai. [Source: The Canadian Press via TTAC]
